As a rapidly growing investment house, MORE needed not only more space but also, a space that will reflect their story, identity, and culture. Through an intense and rigorous strategic planning process, we worked closely with them to understand their needs and desires for their new flagship office, resulting in the development of a refined program in a dynamic and elegant space. Defining clear relationships between the various departments as well as within each department allowed for an effective workflow throughout the floor that is complemented by public spaces, which provide points of relief.
One of the main desires of the client was to bring light into the space, specifically to the interior offices, while keeping privacy for the team. Using glass partitions with a minimalist opaque filter we were able to achieve this goal. In contrast to the solid walls which the team was used to in their old offices, the glass partitions also promote a collaborative and transparent working environment that encourages dialogue and improve teamwork.
Working with a sensitive budget, we saw an opportunity to use color and simple materials as guiding elements throughout the space. We used three primary materials and colors: Oak, gray & blue porcelain tiles, and white surfaces. These define work vs. play environments, differentiating between public and private spaces. The oak also brings elegance and warmth, while the blue that is spread throughout the floor provides a gesture to the marketing color of More.
The irregular shape of the existing building created a design challenge to a non-open space work environment. The type of work that is conducted in an investment house requires small enclosed offices where sensitive data can be handled in privacy. To create optimal office spaces without wasting square meters we used the ‘left-over’ irregularly shaped spaces to create moments of relief for interaction and fun. Such spaces were programmed with seating, a coffee bar, a PlayStation area, and a gathering space.
