TLV Villa Preservation & Renovation
A comprehensive renovation and modernization of a 250 square meter 1970s villa initially designed by Architect Genia Averbuch - one of the most important female architects in Israel of the mid 20th century. The project scope encompassed a holistic architectural and interior design approach aimed for blending the structure's unique, iconic features with contemporary and minimalist aesthetic. The objective was to adapt the vintage architecture to support the functional and stylistic demands of a modern lifestyle while meticulously preserving its distinctive architectural heritage.
NoRo Architects's process included architectural & interior design, lighting design and selection, furniture & finishes selection, custom detailing, construction administration & project management.

We began by addressing the Exterior Envelope, revitalizing the building's "skin" through the restoration of original concrete and steel components, creating a high-performance building envelope that honors its historic integrity. This structural strength underpins the core architectural intervention: an expansive, operable Glazing system. This curtain wall facilitates a seamless indoor-outdoor dialogue, inviting the landscape inward and dissolving the traditional threshold between the built environment and nature.

Within the interior, a restrained palette of natural materials for Furniture and accessories was selected to mirror the exterior landscape. A multi-scenario Lighting control system ensures illuminance harmony, balancing indoor hosting areas with the garden to maintain visual comfort and architectural depth after dusk. Bespoke elements, such as washrooms designed as an indoor-outdoor sanctuary, leverage panoramic windows to blend the shower seamlessly with lush vegetation, offering a sensory, nature-immersed bathing experience.

The Garden design narrative highlights a harmonious integration with the home, balancing modern architecture with varied vegetation to create a tranquil, low-maintenance outdoor space. Strategic climate control, utilizing covered patios and integrated fans, ensures comfort and air circulation, making the area usable even in intense summer heat and promoting a genuinely integrated lifestyle.
